The Yahochu ceramics collection was in development for three years before the perfect manufacturer was found in Bali, who could bring the 28 designs to life with the materials, style, and quality that Maximilian required. High-end manufacturer Gaya Ceramics creates the line of handmade porcelain and stoneware home goods, that ranges from dinnerware and flatware to decorative items, for Max ID NY.
Each of the pieces is hand thrown on a wheel before any additional stages, such as trimming, cutting, or filing, to get the desired geometrical effect out of the perfectly round shapes. The dinnerware and serveware use the same porcelain body that through either reduction firing or oxidation firing gives the piece two tones of greys, which are then accented with a clear glaze and copper lustre to set off the details. The decorative vases and candleholders are created using stoneware that matches the same textures and aesthetic of the dinnerware and share the copper lustre as a cohesive detail.
